iciHaiti - Road safety : Increase of more than 200% of accidents in a week
Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that from June 1 to 7, 27 road accidents on the national territory (+ 50%) compared to the week previous https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-30923-icihaiti-road-safety-38-increase-in-accidents.html, made at least 70 victims (+ 241%) : 17 dead and 53 injured (+ 200%) including several seriously.

Delmas 73, Rampe soldat (RN3), Cap-Haïtien, Pèlerin 3, Morne cabrit, Petit-goâve, Limbé, Bassin bleu, L'Estère, Nazon, Vialet, among others, are the main commune and areas where these accidents have been recorded. .

STOP accident underlines that almost all the deaths took place on the RN3 and the Petit-goâve/Miragoâne section as well as almost a third of the injured.

Remember that this weekly assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of STOP-Accident means, it is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die from their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen preventive measures in the face of the rise in Covid cases19, particularly in terms of public transport and containment.
