iciHaiti - Petit-Goâve : The DGI determined to take back the State lands despoiled by Mayor Limongy
Tuesday 26 around 2h00 pm accompanied by the Police, by Me Winifred Justice of the Peace and a clerk, a team from the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) of Petit-Goâve led by the Director Jean Brice Ernst visited to Fort-Liberté more than two carreaux of land to exercise an action in opposition to all those who want to monopolize them and to signify the right of property of the State.

This visit comes after a machine from the town hall opened a road in this vast area. According to rumors circulating, the Mayor intends to subdivide a space on which the State plans to build a shelter for the benefit of the community, said Mr. Ernst who said that all sales made by Mayor Jean Samson Limongy are illegal.

Let's recall that Mayor Limongy had already appropriated a large portion of this same land previously that he had declared of public utility. He had a market built there and sold plots of land to individuals who hastened to erect private houses.

The Director of the DG denounced and condemned the Mayor who, he said, "disturbs the possession of the State and does not have the right to sell state property."

Subsequently, the delegation went to Simmond's Avenue on another property in the domain of the State that the Town Hall divided into lots and sold to citizens of the area. Numerous residents showed a document authorizing them to occupy a portion of the space issued by the Town Hall, which they obtained after paying money to the latter.

Director Ernst spoke to a crowd of people, most of whom were hostile, to explain that the Mayor overstepped his duties and invited the prospective buyers to come to the DGI office.
