iciHaiti - Insecurity : Violence by USGPN agents against members of the UEH
In a press note, the Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH) "deplores and strongly condemns the serious attacks committed by agents of the General Security Unit of the National Palace (USGPN) and whose was victims two teachers, members of the administrative staff and students of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) during incidents [demonstration] that occurred on March 13 in the area near the two institutions [...]"

The Rectorate denounces the disproportionate reactions of the agents of the USGPN who have disregarded the constitutional principles of the inviolability of the university space and the respect for the basic rights and the dignity of the members of the academic and non-academic staff.

"The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti expresses its solidarity with the victims, the staff and the management of the École Normale Supérieure" ensuring that "complaints in good and due form will be brought to the appropriate authorities, including including judicial proceedings, in order to shed light on these serious incidents. The culprits must be identified and punished in accordance with the law."
