iciHaiti - Psychosis Covid-19 : The Maritime and Navigation Service calls for calm
Eric Prevost Jr., Director General of the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) specifies to the population of coastal cities, in general and seafarers in particular, that the cruise ship "Nieuw Amsterdam" observed in the South zone of the country during the evening of March 11 to 12 took a normal sea route to its final destination "Half Moon Cay" in the Bahamas and posed no danger to the Haitian population whose fear of the introduction of Covid-19 on the territory feeds a growing psychosis.

In addition, SEMANAH recalls that the Great South does not yet have port infrastructure that can accommodate boats of this size. Consequently, it asks the population to keep calm, ensuring that all arrangements are made to control any foreign vessel found in Haitian territorial waters or wishing to approach any port in the country.
