iciHaiti - France : Haitian Dr. Jean-Hugues Henrys Knight of the National Order of Merit
This week at the Residence of France (Port-au-Prince), José Gomez, the French Ambassador accredited to Haiti paid tribute to the Haitian doctor Jean-Hugues Henrys, a graduate of several French universities who decided to put his skills and energy at the service of health in Haiti, and presented him during a ceremony with the insignia of Knight of the National Order of Merit.

Doctor and university dean, Dr. Jean-Hugues Henrys is especially renowned for having largely contributed to making the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Notre-Dame d'Haïti (UNDH) a benchmark institution in the field of medical and paramedical training.

France welcomes the path of this doctor who worked in particular to make the Faculty of Medicine of the Notre-Dame University of Haiti an institution of excellence in the field of training of medical and paramedical personnel.

To strengthen the Haitian medical sectors, Dr. Henrys has often stimulated cooperation and exchanges with French universities. He also supported numerous research projects and participated in the creation of six laboratories in Haiti.

By honoring Dr. Jean-Hugues Henrys, France also pays tribute to its fight against cholera in Haiti. He has indeed been the main player in Haitian research in this area, developing very close cooperation with the teams of Professor Piarroux, from La Timone Hospital in Marseille.
