iciHaiti - Insecurity : Protest note from the Association of Haitian Journalists
In a protest note, Jacques Desrosiers, Secretary General of the Association of Haitian Journalists (AJH), deplores the fact that arevendications movement oif agents of the Haitian National Police (PNH) who demand the right to meet in a union, is "marred by acts of violence and violation of freedom of expression, opinion and the press."

Jacques Desrosiers recalls that on February 23, a group of armed individuals claiming to be PNH protesters attacked the premises of Radio Television Caraïbes and burned down several vehicles "The Association of Haitian Journalists strongly condemns this act which is contrary to the Constitution and the various treaties and conventions ratified by Haiti. No journalist or media should be the target of attack from any group.

The Journalists Association calls on the various protesters to respect journalists and the media, who are only reporting the facts and demands that the authorities responsible for the safety of life and property ensure the protection of journalists and the media.

In this period of confusion, the AJH urges journalists and the media to show solidarity, vigilance and caution, reminding them of the obligation to continue to carry out their work with professionalism while respecting the rules of professional ethics in Haiti."
