iciHaiti - Heritage : Victim of traffickers, hundreds of archaeological pieces return to the country 16/02/2020 09:08:54
This week, the United States handed over to the National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE) several hundred archaeological pieces https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30029-haiti-usa-trafficking-of-historical-objects-479-stolen-artifacts-returned-to-haiti-by-the-united-states.html , trafficked to the United States which have been seized over the years. The presentation of these pieces was made among others in the presence of Jean Erol Josué the Director General of the BNE, a representative of the FBI, the American Ambassador in Haiti Michèle Sison accompanied by members of the Embassy, archaeologists Haitians and BNE technicians.
Recall that these pieces are back in Haiti after several decades... The inventory work on these archaeological pieces has already started. The BNE will identify, classify and promote them and very soon, visitors will have the privilege of admiring these treasures of Haitian heritage.
