On this day of commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the earthquake of January 12, 2010, the former Consul General of Haiti in Chicago Lesly Condé shares with all Haitians in the country and the diaspora a message of reflection that we invite you to read:

Message from Lesly Condé :

"At the beginning of each year, while our Nation, always resilient, gives itself new reasons to hope and to fight, it is also the time to think about this catastrophe with apocalyptic dimensions that isfallen us January 12, 2010. This massive earthquake struck mercilessly and without warning, causing nearly 300,000 deaths and countless horror stories that cannot all be told.

This year, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the most devastating earthquake in our history, let us keep in our hearts a thought for the compatriots who, even today, are still struggling to recover and who need our solidarity.

We will always remember the admirable surges of solidarity that the world proved capable of.

Wounds of all kinds are still alive today.

Even today, Haiti struggles desperately to hold on to its humanity."
