iciHaiti - DR : 906 Haitians deported

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) informs that it carried out migration control operations from 16 to 20 December in the National District and the municipalities of Santo-Domngo East and West as well as in 7 Provinces : Azua, Dajabón, Espaillat, La Vega, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago de los Caballeros and Santiago Rodríguez, in which 1,102 Haitian nationals were arrested and checked.
After verification using biometric readers and the central database of the DGM, 906 (82%) were declared in an irregular migration situation in accordance with the provisions of Law 285-04 on migration and taken back to the border posts of Jimaní, Dajabón and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti.
The migration teams were composed of inspectors, DGM agents with the support of the military, the National Police, and representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
