iciHaiti - DR : 84% of Haitians checked are illegal 16/12/2019 06:33:04 After verification using biometric readers and the DGM’s central database, 890 (84%) were declared as irregular migrants and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti. The migration teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the DGM with the support of the military, CESTUR and the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned. Note that for 2 months the deportations of Haitians controlled on Dominican territory increased by 10% in November and 12.5% in October, since Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of Migration, has been instructed to step up migration control operations in order to combat the presence of illegal aliens on Dominican soil, as well as to intervene in all places where the presence of people without papers is suspected and no longer just in the streets and public spaces.
