iciHaiti - Tabarre : St. Luc Hospital, 60,000 patients by year

Deputy Head of Mission of the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince Robin Diallo, and Gary Juste, Director of Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID - Haiti) welcomed Ms. Faller, wife by Admiral Faller Commander of the Southern United States Military Operations Center, during a visit to the St. Luc Foundation Hospital in Tabarre with his Founder, Fr. Rick Frechette, a priest and American doctor.

The group visited their trauma center, one of the few intensive care and surgical treatment centers in Haiti to provide 24/7 emergency care. According to Father Rick, the center started as a field hospital after the 2010 earthquake, with a US$100,000 grant from USAID to build structures to house their initial cholera treatment activities still in use.

Today, the Foundation's programs include direct services and medical care to more than 60,000 patients by year. St. Luc Hospital is working to strengthen the health care system and services to help Haiti on its path to self-sufficiency. Ms. Faller expressed gratitude for the work of USAID.
