iciHaiti - DR : The Dominican Republic continues to deport Haitians
The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announces that it has carried out migration control operations in the national district and in 11 Provinces: Azua, Espaillat, Mirabal Sisters, Mgr Nouel, Montecristi, La Altagracia, La Vega, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodriguez, Puerto Plata and Valverde, during which 1,292 people, most of Haitian origin, were arrested and controlled

After verification with the help of biometric readers and in consultation with the central database of the DGM, 1,065 Haitians (82.4%) were declared in irregular migratory situation and taken back to the border posts of e Dajabón, Elías Piña and Jimaní, to be registered and deported to Haiti.

The migration teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.

The DGM reiterated its desire to maintain migratory control operations of all foreigners living throughout the Dominican territory.

Note that more than 85,000 Haitians have already been deported since the beginning of 2019. A number that should exceed 100,000 at the end of this year...
