iciHaiti - DR : 1,361 Haitians deported in 5 days

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) announces that it has carried out, over a period of 5 days, migration control operations in the national district and in 7 provinces, in which 1,569 persons of Haitian origin have been arrested and controlled : National District (223 ), Valverde (150), La Vega (149), Montecristi (132), La Romana (117), Duarte (72), Santiago (64) and Azua (22).
After verification using biometric readers and the DGM's central database, 1,361 Haitians (86.7%) were declared in an irregular migration situation and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña to be registered and deported to Haiti.
The migration teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the CESTUR and the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
The DGM reiterated its desire to maintain the migration control operations of all foreigners living throughout the Dominican territory, and ensure the strict application of the Migration Act No. 285-04.
