![]() iciHaiti - MUPANAH : Commemorative year dedicated to King Henri Christophe 10/10/2019 10:24:40
Henri Christophe was a slave who after being released, participated in the struggle for independence. President in 1806, he is self-proclaimed King of the northern half of the country between 1811 and his suicide in 1820. This year, the Museum and the Ministry of Culture are hosting tributes that will end in 2020, to raise awareness of the figure of this transcendent man who was responsible for the construction of the National Historic Park, Citadel, Sans Souci Palace and Ramiers, declared World Heritage Site. Recall that the MUPANAH houses in its collections, several objects that belonged to King Christophe, including the revolver with which he committed suicide on October 8, 1820, the main key of the Citadel, objects used at his court, as well as his portrait from 1816. In collaboration with local institutions and associations, historians, writers and artists, intra and extra-mural events will be organized, announced their organizers. IH/ iciHaiti
