iciHaiti - Social : The UEH salutes the departure of Professor Roger Petit-Frère
The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH) has learned, with deep regret, the sad news of the death of Professor Roger Petit-Frère, https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-28461-icihaiti-social-passing-of-the-historian-roger-petit-frere.html "[...] and on behalf of the university community, salutes the departure of this research professor and this eminent intellectual figure who has contributed immensely to the training of several generations of students at the UEH.

Professor Petit-Frère has taught political analysis for more than 30 years through several entities of the State University. In the 90s, he held the position of Board member of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and INAGHEI. At the same time, he was a member of the UEH Council.

Partisan of the autonomy of the State University, Roger Petit-Frère represented the professor-symbol at the university. He is one of the few professors who dared to teach the social sciences as well as the history of political and social ideas during the Duvalierist dictatorship. Thus, we praise his courage and his know-how. Petit-Frère believed that the university should also be involved in the transformation of society.

A lucid analyst, he helped our university and society to understand each other better. An enemy of dogmatism, he taught his students to cultivate critical thinking and a sense of dialogue. It's a big loss for the university. Professor Petit-Frère will remain a great citizen, a great humanist who served the country competently.

The Rectorate offers his condolences to his family, his colleagues, his friends and all those who are mourning."
