iciHaiti - Security : Repeated attacks on journalists
Eddy Jackson Alexis, the Secretary of State for Communication condemns with the utmost severity the attack perpetrated on the evening of August 6, 2019 in Léogâne against Luckson Saint-vil, journalist-reporter with Loop Haiti, whose vehicle was riddled balls by unidentified individuals.

The Secretary of State vehemently denounces the systematic attacks against the press, recalling that the freedom of the press is a value that must be defended in all circumstances.

Eddy Jackson Alexis deplores the verbal and physical aggression, the intimidation of journalists and expresses his concern at the slow pace of court decisions...

Eddy Jackson Alexis took the opportunity to once again express his full support for the journalist Kendi Zidor, editor-in-chief of Radio Solidarité, whose vehicle had also suffered several projectiles at Delmas 60 last month. He also extends his feelings of solidarity to Waldène Joseph, of Radio Elroi in Léogâne, physically assaulted in the station's premises at the end of July.

While recommending the journalists to lodge a complaint, the Secretary of State Alexis encourages, once again justice to conclude the investigations on the disappearance of the journalist Vladjimir Legagneur, disappeared since March 14th, 2018.

The Office of the Secretary of State reiterates the determination of the authorities in place, guarantees freedom of the press, political pluralism and stresses that the use of violence can not be justified in a democratic society.
