iciHaiti - Agriculture : 600 delegates gathered in Jacmel for the Peasant Congress of the CROSE
Tuesday, nearly 600 delegates gathered in Jacmel, for the Congress of the Regional Coordination of Organizations of the Southeast (CROSE), one of the main peasant associations of Haiti, founded in 1996 by the former minister of the Gerard Mathurin, who died in March 2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23716-haiti-social-death-of-the-former-minister-of-agriculture-gerald-mathurin.html

Representatives from 50 communal sections, of 10 municipalities and three districts, will debate corruption and good governance until Wednesday, amidst the struggle of various social sectors for public accountability, said agronomist Pichon Espady, Coordinator of CROSE.

The five-year strategic plan in which priority will be given to strengthening the organization and raising awareness of the population so that it works for the change of living conditions at the local level, instead of trying to emigrate will also be heart of the Agenda

According to Espady, delegates will also explore alternatives to encourage increased agricultural production and the promotion of new farming and fishing techniques.

The conference will finally renew the movement's leadership and improve the participation of young people and women in decision-making bodies.

For its closure, Wednesday, July 3, a walk is planned in the city of Jacmel.
