iciHaiti - USA : Coast Guard intercepts 3.5 tons of smuggled garlic from Haiti
The crew of the US Coast Guard's Vigilant Vessel, a 210-foot ship whose missions include banning illegal drugs and migrants, as well as search and rescue, returned to his home port in Cap Canaveral after a two-month patrol in the Caribbean.

During their patrol, the crew ensured the safe return of 50 Haitian migrants to their country of origin, which had been intercepted by the crew of the coast guard vessel Robert Yered, a rapid response unit with its home port in Miami.

The Vigilant crew also intercepted a fast-moving ship carrying 3,500 kg of smuggled garlic from Haiti to the Dominican Republic.

After being informed of the interception, the Dominican Navy sent a ship to take charge of the smugglers whose merchandise is valued at nearly $30,000 and which is the largest amount of garlic seized at sea.
