Maximilien Pardo, UN Environment Haiti representative, is currently, together with representatives of several national Conservation Trust Funds, attending the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund annual meeting taking place in Antigua this week.

According to the landmark IPBES 2019 Global Assessment, and based on current needs, threats and trajectories, ongoing resources mobilization and diversification efforts are not sufficient to achieve Biodiversity Targets.

Under these perspectives, well designed and managed Trust Funds are strategic sustainable finance mechanisms for biodiversity conservation - not only key to attract new financial resources but also to promote long-term programming, tools for policy dialogue, partnership building and coordination.
