iciHaiti - Diaspora : 10th Annual Caribbean Heritage Month Festival Celebration, registrations open
Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA) has partnered with Karib Nation and the Embassy of Haiti to co-host the 10th annual Caribbean Heritage Month celebration to showcase an artistic week of culture, style and fashion. This momentous event will feature two Caribbean First Ladies, her Excellency Sandra Granger of Guyana, and her Excellency Martine Moïse of Haiti. The celebration will include a Caribbean Style & Culture - Awards & Fashion Showcase, a First Lady Women’s Empowerment Brunch and a Caribbean music and art festival to close out the month’s celebration.

The celebration will also showcase culinary delights catered by renowned Haitian-American, Chef Dimitri and live entertainment including local artists, designers, and musicians from the region. The Women’s Empowerment Brunch will feature a thought-provoking fire chat discussion with the two First Ladies to share personal reflections and perspectives about the role of Women in Nation Building. The brunch will be moderated by award-winning journalists and talk show hosts, Mr. Kojo Nnamdi and Ms. Melissa Noel. The discussion will examine the influence of women, their positions of power, and strategic leadership in all matters of the state, including advocacy for promotion of Caribbean culture, and women’s social and political engagement for strengthening the economic growth of the region.

“We’re excited about partnering with HRA and the Embassy of Haiti to host Guyana and Haiti’s First Ladies. Together, we aspire to make this 10th anniversary year a huge success! ONE PEOPLE IN COLOR!” said Cornel R. Jones Founder and Managing Director at Karib Nation, Inc.

“HRA is honored to be a partner on this Karib Nation/Embassy of Haiti collaboration to co-host our First Ladies. Women are the cornerstone of Caribbean life and culture and continue to sustain the region’s economy, particularly, in the areas of entrepreneurship and investment. Our voices are often silenced by the inequities of gender in our society so what better opportunity is there than to start this dialogue about redefining our roles in nation building than with The First Lady.” stated Dr. Magalie Emile-Backer, Co-founder of HRA.

The 10th Annual Caribbean Heritage Month Celebration will take place from June 27- June 30, 2019 at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Silver Spring, MD. The events are open to the media and the public. For more information or to register.
