iciHaiti - Social : Passing of the oldest member of the Agronomists' Corporation
Talot Bertrand, Ing-Agr. Specialist in Environmental Education and Secretary General of PROMODEV, has learned the sad news of the passing away of the Engineer-Agronomist Pierre D. Sam, dean of age of the Corporation of Agronomists, occurred on May 16, 2019 at the 94 years old in his private residence in Pétion-ville.

Born May 23, 1925 in St. Louis du Nord, Agr. Pierre D. Sam (Promotion 1942-1945 of the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine) began his professional career in La Gonâve and then in Saint-Raphäel, Les Cayes... on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture. He has a specialization in coffee and cocoa cultivation, he pursued also studies in Puerto Rico in farm management and technology transfer. In addition, he was a specialist in soil conservation, a disciple of Schiller Nicolas.

Pierre D. Sam was Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Planning, Senior Official at FAO and Ambassador of Haiti in Washington.

The funeral of the former Minister of Agriculture, Agr. Pierre D. Sam were sung on May 23rd (date of birth) in the Sainte-Thérèse Church of Pétion-ville.
