Monday, as part of the strengthening of the surveillance of the maritime border with Haiti, ordered by the Ministry of Defense, the Dominican Navy intercepted in the maritime area of Paroli (Province of Montecristi, North-West of the Republic Dominican) a clandestine boat.

The approximately 40-foot boat was carrying 95 Haitian boat-people (75 men and 20 women), bound for the Turks and Caicos Islands archipelago. On board the Navy also find two outboard motors, several gas tanks, provisions and water for the long trip.

The Haitians, were handed over to the Directorate General of Migration for identification, registration and deportation in Haiti, while the boat and all it contained was seized by the Navy for legal suites.
