iciHaiti - DR : 1,204 Haitians deported to Haiti

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM), informs that by order of the Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of the institution and following a work of information and denunciations of the population on the localization of Haitians presumed illegal, several Migration control operations were carried out in different communities in the provinces of Azua, Duarte, Espaillat, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Montecristi, Santiago de Caballeros, Sanchez Ramirez, Valverde, Puerto Plata as well as the national district and several municipalities of Santo Domingo, during which 1,702 Haitians were controlled
The teams deployed for these operations were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
After verifying the legal status of the persons checked, using fingerprint readers and the central database, 1,204 Haitians (70%) were declared irregular and taken to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña, to be registered and returned to Haiti.
