iciHaiti - Demonstrations : Quebec tourists blocked in Haiti for several days !

48 Quebec tourists are blocked in Haiti at the Coralia Club of the Royal Decameron Hotel, on the Côte des Arcadins since last Saturday, because they can not reach the Port-au-Prince International Airport Toussaint Louverture to return home in Quebec, the airline Transat had to cancel the transfer to the capital because it was not able to ensure the safety of travelers during the trip to the airport because of the blocked and dangerous roads and demonstrations a through the Haitian territory.

A situation that has forced Boomerang Voyages, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25826-haiti-flash-look-voyage-renounces-operating-its-lookea-club-in-haiti-due-to-instability.html to cancel the next scheduled departures which is a blow to the Club and for tourism in Haiti. "For the moment, we are following the recommendations of the Tour Operators Union (SETO) and no departure will be made before, at least, on February 18th. I think that the situation will exceed this date [...]" laments Philippe Sangouard, Director of the tour operator adding "If this does not stabilize within 15 days, I think we will definitely stop the operation of Club Coralia for this winter. Especially since we arrive at the end of the season (end of March, beginning of April)."

In Ottawa, the Government ensures that it monitors the situation very closely and is in constant communication with the Canadian Embassy in Port-au-Prince.
