iciHaiti - Religion : The special envoy of Pope Francis recognizes the support of the Dominican to Haitians
Saturday, as part of the 525th anniversary of the first Eucharist celebrated in America, at a Mass celebrated in the Temple of the Americas of Isabela in Luperón (Province of Puerto Plata), the Cardinal of San Salvador, Mgr Gregorio Rosa Chavez, special envoy of Pope Francis, presiding over the celebration in the presence of President Danilo Medina, many personalities and a large crowd of parishioners, lamented that Haiti suffered so much, but acknowledged that the Haitian brothers were welcomed as a family and supported by the Dominican people. Mgr. Gregorio Rosa Chavez, while acknowledging that the worsening of the Haitian crisis complicated relations with the Dominican Republic, asked the Dominicans to collaborate with the Haitian people "Because they are brothers who need to feel like members of the family."

After the religious ceremony, returning to the migration problem in general, the Vatican's Special Envoy told reporters that migration reflected the great misery and hunger suffered by thousands of citizens around the world stressing "We must find ways to enable citizens to live and progress in their own territories, to live in peace and tranquility, to which they are entitled."
