iciHaiti - Economy : The ADIH says NO to the situation of insecurity and generalized violence
In a note dated Sunday and signed by George B. Sassine, the President of the Council, "the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) says NO and can not remain indifferent to the current situation , having caused so much loss of lives and property "It protests against the situation of insecurity and widespread violence and advocates a climate conducive to investment.

The ADIH declares the following :

  • "The mandate of elected officials can not be shortened;

  • The President is responsible for the proper functioning of the institutions, as prescribed by the Constitution;

  • The Prime Minister must continue the investigation of the PetroCaribe case while having the free hand to run the State, according to the wishes of the Constitution. It must take concrete and decisive action demonstrating that he is absolutely determined to change a system that is obviously dysfunctional;

  • It is essential that the President agrees with the Prime Minister to create more openness in the government;

  • It is also essential that Parliament allow the functioning of the Executive without undue pressure;

  • ADIH requires smuggling and looting of public funds to be stopped;

  • The National Police must also have all the necessary support to accomplish its mission;

  • Employees of State institutions can not follow strikes;

  • The ADIH strongly supports and defends the freedom of expression, the importance of the free press and the conquests of citizen freedom. For some time now we have been experiencing the emergence of excesses coming from certain media through their language that incites violence. The National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL), the Government and the Justice must take immediately the legal provisions against such actors. Violence, in any form, can not be tolerated and their perpetrators and those who advocate it must be punished immediately. "
