iciHaiti - Social : The hunt for illegal Haitians continues in DR

On the instructions of Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), migration control operations were conducted, following intelligence work and complaints from the Dominican population regarding the presence of Haitian probably in an irregular situation, in the provinces of Azua (Pilones), Barahona (Cruce de Cabral and Batey Central), La Vega (Catalina, Cabuya, Barraca, El Pomo and Arenoso), Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodriguez (El Guanal and El Almacigo) among others...
The migratory control teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
818 Haitians were checked in the same day, using biometric equipment and 529 (64%) were declared irregular and taken to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña, to be registered and deported to Haiti.
