iciHaiti - DR : Seizure of 1.6 tons of contraband garlic from Haiti

Following an intelligence operation, a patrol of the Dominican Navy found on the beach of Cambiaso (West Province of Puerto-Plata), an artisanal craft built of wood and fiberglass with two branded outboard engines Yamaha, used to transport a shipment of contraband garlic from Haiti.
The cargo consisted of 160 bags of garlic weighing about 22 pounds each, or about 1.6 tons had been unloaded and placed on the sand near the boat.
The Dominican Navy authorities made no comment regarding the authors and recipients of this contraband, which brings to nearly 100 tons the volume of contraband garlic from Haiti seized on Dominican territory since January 2017.
