According to information from the National Institute of Migration (INAMI), in 2016, 17,078 Haitian citizens arrived in Mexico and another 852 between January and May 2017. The study published by the Colegio de la Frontera Norte (El Colef) indicates that 3,400 people decided to stay in the municipalities of Baja California (Tijuana and Mexicali).
