With 2,688 suspect cases in the first half of the year (compared to 7,604 in 2017), HRP's initial target of 12,000 suspected cases in 2018 remains within reach if the current level of response is maintained throughout the year. However, despite the good results in 2017 due to a well-financed response mechanism throughout the year, the same predictability of funding could not be maintained in 2018, jeopardizing the significant progress of the past two years. The rapid response NGOs that work daily with the MSPP rapid teams are only funded until September 2018 which is a financial visibility that is too short. An early reduction in the number of response teams poses a risk that cholera might spread again in the country in the absence of rapid outbreak control. IH/ iciHaiti
