iciHaiti - Contraband : 1,2 tons of garlic seized from Haiti

More than 1.2 tons (2,728 pounds) of contraband garlic from Haiti was seized this week by soldiers of the 10th Battalion of the Dominican Army in the Province of Dajabón.
The garlic was transported in black Cherokee SUV with X378037 show plate that the driver after a long pursuit abandoned in a rural area of the Cañongo Municipal District, after the army fired into the tires to force the vehicle to stop.
Colonel José Manuel Durán Infante, commander of the Fourth Brigade, declared that the garlic, packed in 124 bags of 22 pounds each, had been seized together with the vehicle and handed over to the Dajabón Public Prosecutor's Office.
