iciHaiti - Agriculture : Success of the Terrier Rouge Agricultural Fair thanks to FAO
This year, the traditional exhibition of agri-food products organized in the Capital, has been duplicated at Terrier Rouge (North-East Dept.) under the theme "Ann jere dlo pou ogmante pwodiksyon nasyonal" (Let's make better management of water in order to increase the national production) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24278-haiti-agriculture-great-agricultural-fair-in-terrier-rouge.html

The Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Haiti has shown its support for this initiative by accompanying about fifteen farmers-breeders in the establishment of a exhibition stand designed to introduce visitors to the variety of their products among others: "mamba" (peanut butter) in sweet, salty and spicy versions, the traditional sweets known as "tablèt pistach", "tablèt kokoye", "chanmchanm", "carapina", nougat, sweet and salty cassava.

Visitors were also able to taste the dairy products "Lèt Agogo", sterilized milk and yogurt produced and marketed by the dairy of Ouanaminthe (North-East). In addition, farmers shared with visitors information on the methodology used in fish culture for fish farming.

"The success of our products is not a coincidence. It's all the farmer capacity building work done by FAO that makes the difference, "said David François, Producer Network Manager in the Capotille and Ouanaminthe areas, adding," The training we received from FAO has allowed us to improve the quality of our products in terms of hygiene and marketing while underlining that the supermarkets and hotels of reference of the place are among the customers of the producers of its network."
