iciHaiti - Border : Important seizure of Dominican contraband goods

Saturday May 5 at the checkpoint of Morne Cabri around 11:00 pm, during an operation led by a specialized customs control brigade https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23433-haiti-notice-polyethylene-and-polystyrene-of-brigades-will-be-deployed.html , an important cargo of contraband and styrofoam products from the Dominican Republic has been seized by Haitian customs officers. Armed individuals pretending to be police officers would be involved in this traffic confirmed the Ministry of Communication.
Note that for 5 years, despite the decree of July 10, 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8995-haiti-notice-ban-on-plastic-bags-and-styrofoam.html replacing that of 9 August 2012 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-6395-haiti-environment-measures-of-protection-for-the-environment.html prohibiting the production, import, marketing and use of plastics, expanded polystyrene and styrofoam (EPS or PS crystal) products. Such as : trays, bottles, black bags, plates, cups, etc...) and the numerous seizures of goods imported and illegally marketed, the situation remains almost unchanged and these products are still present and for sale on the Haitian market.
