iciHaiti - Politic : Towards an increase in the number of social housing in Haiti
Yvon Buissereth, the Director General of Public Enterprise Promotion and Housing (EPPLS) ensures that his institution is redoubling its efforts to allow the Haitian population in need to have access to decent housing.

However, he recalls that the demand is well above the supply, recalling that Haiti has only about 12,000 social housing units. He says that this figure should be increased tenfold before the end of President Moïse's term. Recall that the cumulative deficit of social housing was over 400,000 in 2012 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14348-haiti-social-a-cumulative-deficit-of-more-than-400-000-housing.html and is currently close to millions of units...

He explains that the EPPLS is currently working on construction projects especially for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Great South https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21715-haiti-politics-project-to-build-2-000-houses-in-the-great-south.html , recalling that social housing built by EPPLS meets seismic and anticyclonic standards and their unit cost varies between US $ 6,500 and US $ 10,000 (or more). These are spacious, fully equipped homes erected on non-conflicting land.

Beneficiaries, selected from the most needy, repay between 30 and 40% of the total amount spent before becoming the owner.
