Following a decision of the Organizing Committee of the Carnival of Gonaives, at the request of the group "Les Indépendants" which pleads in favor of the moralization of the Carnival, the Group "Sweet Micky" of Michel Martelly was removed from the list of authorized musical formations to participate in the parade of the Carnival of Independence on February 2, 3 and 4 in Gonaives.

In Jacmel at the announcement by the Town Hall of the participation of "Sweet Micky" at the Carnival of Jacmel, sectors rise to the crenel to criticize this participation. Following a series of conferences held by organizations of the Civil Society Jacmelienne, voices are raised to denounce what they call "the participation of shame". For the moment no official note of the Town hall has been communicated to make known its final decision, while the participation of "Sweet Micky" divides the population...

Several human rights organizations: CONHANE, RNDDH, EC-JILAP, CARDH and POHDH, congratulate the citizens of Gonaïves and Jacmel who demand that "the carnival festivities of 2018 are not devious and do not transform into a space of insanity and deviation of the youth of the country."
