Thursday at the Administrative Complex of Hinche, Daniel Denis, the Director General of the Ministry of Commerce and Adrien Lauré the Director General of Public Health met with health authorities of the Dominican Republic.

After a joint press conference of the two delegations, the Dominican and Haitian officials exposed, for more than two hours, the results of their respective investigations. No further loss of life has been reported in border towns of both countries. The Haitian and Dominican authorities have decided to join forces to fight against this scourge.

The Ministry of Commerce calls on the population in general and especially those living near the border to be cautious while promising to continue to work with the competent Haitian and Dominican authorities to put an end to this problem.

Recall that methanol (methyl alcohol) is a very dangerous product for health, ingestion can cause serious intoxication that can result to damage to the nervous system and vision, cause coma and death. Ingesting just 4 milliliters of methanol is enough to cause blindness.
