This bilateral meeting was part of the quest for a definitive solution between the two governments on the adulterated alcoholic products containing methanol a toxic product that has caused the death of at least 28 people on both sides of the border including 13 Haitians and 15 Dominicans https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23122-haiti-news-zapping.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23108-haiti-flash-adulterated-clairin-in-circulation-already-several-victims.html After a joint press conference of the two delegations, the Dominican and Haitian officials exposed, for more than two hours, the results of their respective investigations. No further loss of life has been reported in border towns of both countries. The Haitian and Dominican authorities have decided to join forces to fight against this scourge. The Ministry of Commerce calls on the population in general and especially those living near the border to be cautious while promising to continue to work with the competent Haitian and Dominican authorities to put an end to this problem. Recall that methanol (methyl alcohol) is a very dangerous product for health, ingestion can cause serious intoxication that can result to damage to the nervous system and vision, cause coma and death. Ingesting just 4 milliliters of methanol is enough to cause blindness.
