iciHaiti - Politic : The Mayor of Croix-des-Bouquets congratulates the new President of Liberia
In a letter Rony Colin, the Mayor of Croix-des-Bouquets congratulates the former star of African football, child of the ghetto raised by his grandmother in the slum of Clara Town, George Weah (51 years) became the new President-elect of Liberia Thursday, December 28 with 61.5% of the vote, against 38.5% for his opponent, the outgoing Vice President, Joseph Boakai.

Extract from Mayor Colin's letter :
"Dear friend,

I learned with great joy of your election as head of the highest office of the state in Liberia.

I would like to congratulate you on this new and dazzling victory you have won in your magnificent life, this time on the difficult political terrain.

[...] The spontaneity with which you had positively responded to my invitation, to visit Haiti in November 2008 as part of the activities of my foundation, had moved me deeply and confirmed the simple and humble nature that you are, despite your status as a planetary superstar.

It is these qualities of simplicity and humility, linked to your character that will help you transcend your ego, as the first tenant of the Presidential Palace, and stay focused on fulfilling your campaign promises to serve your country instead of serving yourself and being the President of all Liberians without distinction or exclusivity.

I hope with all my heart that you will not be long in treading again this sacred land of Haiti, worthy daughter of the Alma mater [...] that destiny wanted that you visit 9 years ago [...]

In the meantime, my dear friend, I wish you success in this new challenge that awaits you, perhaps the biggest one you've ever had to face [...]"
