Haiti - Minujusth : New UN mission in Haiti begins
Thursday 12 at the presentation of the Secretary-General's latest report to the Security Council, Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations explained that with the new United Nations Mission in Support of Justice in Haiti (Minujusth), which will take office on Monday 16 October. "It is up to the Haitian authorities and people to make full use of the window of opportunity created by the stabilization efforts of the last decade, carried out with the support of Minustah and other international partners."

Adding "To consolidate political stability, the strengthening and establishing democratic institutions as foreseen by the Haitian Constitution are essential, a reform agenda must be based on a dialogue that includes the voices of all national sectors, including political parties, civil society and the private sector. But these voices must also be open to political consensus, which is vital for any reform process [...] I urge the Haitian authorities, all political actors and civil society to fully grasp the opportunity presented by through the Minujusth and the United Nations Agencies, Funds and Programs in Haiti."
