iciHaiti - FLASH : Arrests and deportations of more than 400 Haitians in Pedernales
Thursday, at the border post of Pedernales, in the south-west of the Dominican Republic, immigration authorities and members of the Specialized Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) arrested and returned to Haiti in a few hours, more than 400 Haitians Illegal on the Dominican territory..

In the early hours of the morning, Dominican forces began to seize : cigarettes, whiskey, energy drinks, clairin, rice, Prestige beer, etc..., to Haitian traders in irregular migratory situations engaged in the trade of smuggled goods.

The authorities also seized 19 Dominican motorcycles that transported illegal Haitians to various points in the Pedernales area.

At Pedernales and Barahona throughout the day, soldiers stopped and inspected passenger-carrying vehicles as well as taxi-motorcycles carrying customers. These operations were led by Colonel of CESFRONT Pedro Leonardo Rosario, Mayor Máximo William and an Army Major in charge of migration on instructions of the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Rubén Paulino Sem.
