iciHaiti - Petit-Goâve : New organization for the defense of consumer rights
On Tuesday in a press conference at the La Digue Hotel in Petit-Goâve, Mr. Max Fortunat presented the members of the Administrative Committee of a new Association "Organization for the Defense of National Heritage and Consumer Protection" (ODPANAPCO).

This organization, which aims to protect local and national consumers and to defend the country's natural resources, is led by a committee composed of :

François Dacius Lysias Coordinator; Marx Henry Fortunat Secretary General; Médyne Desroches Deputy Secretary General; Nancy Dessejour Administrator; Jeannine Louis Delegate; Josué Lafrance in charge of claims and Eugene Raymond Communication Secretary.

Secretary General Fortunat, who said he wanted to propagate this movement throughout the country, explained the objectives pursued by ODPANAPCO, are among others :

  • Ensure proper management of available resources ;
  • Ensure that the country's heritages are used for the benefit of community members ;
  • Ensure that consumers cease to be victims of the dishonest acts of certain individuals ;
  • Defend consumers when they are victims of non-compliant products sold on the national market;
  • Help the community, youth, future generations understand the value of our heritages, how to use them and how to benefit from them ;
  • Ensure that the primary needs of the population are met and that farmers have access to basic infrastructure and services such as roads, electricity, water and health.

For his part, the Coordinator, François Lysias announced the positioning of the organization by making denunciations nominative, affirming "Nobody cares what we consume in Haiti... The State remains indifferent. Each arbitrarily fixes the prices of the products as he sees fit. It is our duty to defend people and guide them."
