Fednel Monchery, the Director General of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities, recalls in a note to foreign nationals the documents required for obtaining a residence permit :

Following the notice dated January 27, 2010, issued by the Ministry of Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense, to the attention of foreign nationals staying for more than 90 days in Haiti or living on the national soil, concerning the formal obligation to obtain a residence permit and to legalize their status, the services of the Ministry inform the person concerned, of the steps and documents required to apply for a residence permit.

1. Write a letter requesting an application for a residence permit to the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration by notifying the reasons ;

2. A photocopy of the biographical page of passport of the applicant

3. A letter of employment from its employer or the person who supports it, guaranteeing the stay of foreign in Haiti and repatriation if necessary.

4. A copy of the employer's license or operating authorization, in the case of NGOs;

5. A Medical Certificate not older than thirty (30) days ;

6. Two (2) copies of the photograph of the person (format: Passport Photo and color) ;

7. A photocopy of boarding card obtained during its last re-entry to the country

8. A photocopy of Birth Certificate (French translation required) ;

9. A bank statement from a bank operating in Haiti

10. A fee of seven thousand five hundred Gourdes (7,500 Gdes) or two hundred dollars (200 US) minimum.

11. A criminal record (Country of origin, of recent date);

12. A sum of five thousand Gourdes (5,000 Gdes) to be paid in "check of direction" to the order of the Treasury

Note: When filing the documents, the applicant will be required to complete an interview and complete the Application for a Residence Permit. His fingerprints will be taken and saved in the institution's database. With reference to Article 34, the application for the annual renewal of the Residence Permit shall be accompanied by a receipt for the renewal of the income tax rights for the previous fiscal year.
