Haiti - Literature : Prize Stéphane Hessel 2017, a Haitian rewarded 13/05/2017 10:04:56 The first prize was awarded to Romy Batrouni, a 24-year-old Lebanese girl, for his novel "La ville espoir". The second prize was awarded to the Cameroonian Michel Dongmo Evina, for his novel "Naufragé du destin". Phew Laroc, a Haitian aged 25, was awarded a Special Prize fos his novel "Visages dans la nuit" whose story is inspired by the earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. Despite the chaos, Haitians are struggling to stand. In his text, the hope, as Paul Verlaine says, shines like a sprig of straw in the stable. This novel is a breath of hope. Phew Laroc began writing news at age 16 years. He was awarded the first Ex-Aequo Prize in the Drawing-Story Competition "Croquons la francophonie", 2014-2015 edition, on the theme of Francophone interculturality. Phew Laroc is currently studying sociology. "L’Incertain", the International Review of Creative Writing and Criticism based in Martinique, partner of the Prize, will publish the texts of the three winners. The RFI Club will dedicate a special program "Prize Stéphane Hessel of the Young French writing" on Saturday, May 13th at 22h30 (universal time) on the Africa antenna of RFI. IH/ iciHaiti
