Tuesday, the Haitian authorities and transport unions protested against a new regulation imposed by Mayor Miguel Cruz of the city of Juana Méndez, which prevents most Haitian moto-taxis from entering Dominican territory as a sign of protest, they closed the border gate on the side of Ounaminthe, leading to Dajabón, blocking all traffic in both directions.

This regulation was taken by Mayor Cruz, following pressure of more moto-taxis and Dominican unions, which demanded that Haitian moto-taxis respect the same rules as they, if they want to offer their services in the Dominican Republic, namely: to hold papers of identity, a document proving that their motorcycle was in good standing with the Haitian authorities and insurance.

The intervention of the forces of the order in Haiti made it possible to reopen the door to the circulation in both directions a few hours later, without this conflict being resolved...
