iciHaiti - Literature : Lyonel Trouillot elected President of the Caribbean Writers Association 12/04/2017 09:29:15 Trinidadian writer Earl Lovelace, the outgoing president, has proposed to succeed him Haitian writer Lyonel Trouillot, first vice president from 2015 to 2017, whose candidature was accepted unanimously. Following his election, Lyonel Trouillot declared "We will continue to work together to make ourselves known in the Caribbean and so that our modest writings can contribute to the question of the future of the people of the Caribbean [...] To remind us all, writers, that we do not write in a vacuum but in a real world in which there is real suffering, and the way Earl Lovelace thinks of the Caribbean has given birth to the necessity to talk about it within our association. This is the line we must continue to follow."
