iciHaiti - Environment : Trust Fund for Biodiversity Conservation 19/03/2017 10:46:28
"We want better coordination of the money available for biodiversity. That is why the Ministry of the Environment accompanies civil society actors to discuss the importance of the trust fund," declared Hugo Coles, Director of the National Environmental Assessment Office, adding that in order to take advantage of this fund "it is necessary to set up an expenditure control mechanism which makes it possible to better manage the funds, projects and activities of the actors working in the same field." Martine Therer, Deputy Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), said she was working with the Ministry of the Environment in the most transparent manner on the issue of financing. Recalling that these funds were created in 2015, under the name "Haiti National Trust" to carry out activities specific to the environment. Minister Desras plans to expand collaboration with other organizations, including the UN Environment, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Swiss and German cooperation. TB/ iciHaiti
