Haiti - Politics : Togo wants to draw inspiration from Haiti
Monday, former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe was received by Togolese Head of State Faure Gnassingbé. The two men discussed the mechanisms of self-financing and development projects in Togo.

Laurent Lamothe explained to the interlocutor the self-financing model put in place by the Haitian State which has enabled the schooling of millions of children and to assist university students in disadvantaged neighborhoods. A model that reduces the poverty level from 31 to 24%.

According to Laurent Lamothe "this is a model to replicate, not only in Africa but in all the emerging countries around the world."

This is an example that Togo intends to follow, to mobilize internal financial resources to finance the Government's priorities for the benefit of the Togolese people and reduce its dependence on international aid.
