Haiti - Social : UNICEF is concerned about proposals from foreigners...
Following the passage in early October of Hurricane Matthew on Haiti, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) registration data in public shelters, 57% of registered households are headed by women as head of household.

10% of the families interviewed said they were considering sending their children to live with family members in Haiti, waiting for a new home or lodging, while 3% say they have received offers from foreigners to look after their children, what raises concerns on the part of UNICEF child protection, about the possible protection problems of these children.

In addition, the World Food Program (WFP) reports that 13,000 children have received specialized nutritious foods. For its part, UNICEF reports that 62,000 children have received routine immunizations and that 118,000 have received regular drinking water. UNICEF estimates that 113,000 children have received food assistance since the passage of Matthew.
