iciHaiti - Health : Crusade of CRH against Zika
The National Society of the Haitian Red Cross (HRC) has started since May 2016, a campaign called "Operasyon Kwape Zika" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17563-haiti-health-the-haitian-red-cross-launches-the-anti-zika-operation.html in order to address the need to fight against the epidemic of Zika fever in Haiti.

This operation is part of the national strategy against Zika of Ministry of Health where more than 3,000 cases have been confirmed.

This operation, conducted by Dr. Sherley Bernard and Entomologist Yvan St-Jean, has already led the team in twenty communes across the country with the active backing of President of the Haitian Red Cross, Dr. Guiteau Jean-Pierre, often present on the ground.

The offensive against the advance of Zika in this weekend has been strengthened by the presence of Dr Jean-Pierre as well as the Executive Director of the institution, Dr. Marie Marcelle Cauvin.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday: Hinche and Mirebalais
Thursday and Friday: At Borgne
Friday: In Cap-Haitien
Sunday: Fort Liberté and Ouanaminthe
Sunday: Barrière Blanche and Acul du Nord

The operation of the Haitian Red Cross benefits from UNICEF support, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the American Red Cross and Johnson & Johnson Company, which donated mosquito repellent distributed to the population free of charge, especially to pregnant women.

Alongside caravans operating in the north and center of the country, volunteers from the Red Cross Youth operate home visits to detect, treat and destroy breeding sites.
