Wednesday, August 24, 2016, will take place the opening ceremony of the new Prison of Fort Liberté (Northeast) of Haiti, in the presence of several officials of the US and Haitian governments and members of the community of Fort-Liberté.
This new modern prison infrastructure that can accommodate between 500 and 600 inmates was built at a cost of about 8 million US dollars (5.6 million initially in 2014) and funded by the US State Department, through the Bureau of International Affairs Narcotics and Enforcement (INL).
The work was performed by the construction firm DFS Construction, a US company based in Maryland.
