iciHaiti - Canada : Best chocolate of world, inspired by Haiti 21/07/2016 09:16:22 The Embassy of Haiti in Canada is proud to recognize the recent prizes received by Hummingbird Chocolat Maker during the Academy of Chocolat competition in London. This business is situated close to Ottawa and is owned by Drew and Erica Gilmour. They notably received a gold medal for their Hispaniola bar which was selected as the best dark "Bean to Bar" in the world. The Hispaniola, with its robust fruity taste and hints of raisin and cherry, was also awarded the "Golden Bean", the Academy’s highest honour. Drew and Erica Gilmour were inspired to create this chocolate following a stay in Haiti where they were humanitarian workers and had the opportunity to taste the country’s excellent coffee and cocoa. They tried to recreate this taste in their chocolate. "The Embassy wishes Hummingbird Chocolat Maker much continued success and is pleased to see that Haiti continues to inspire so many around us !"
